Local notices list numerous residents visiting relatives for Christmas and New Year. Travelers include Fritz Schuman, Norval Pearce, and John McKeag group, with others returning from Lincoln Omaha and Cozad. The community also notes weddings, farm visits, and a closing sale at G E Curtis.
A grateful congregation filled the auditorium last Sunday evening. The Christmas Anthem Sunday morning was superbly rendered and Friday’s 7 30 program features the Sunday School. The sermon will reflect the year’s closing Sunday. The choir presents a cantata titled The Star of the East. Your presence is desired for mutual good.
W H Campbell of Clarks traveled to Lincoln as part of a state university inquiry into rural schools. He noted 300 rural schools and rural high schools are adding high school work this year, allowing 3000 pupils to gain access who lacked it four years ago, without reducing regular high school attendance. The meeting also discussed training instructors for short or winter terms to aid irregular attendance. Notice: All persons knowing themselves in debt to me on books accounts please.
Miss Neva Bartratt a teacher in District No 7 was on the sick list. Last Will Wisely shipped hogs to the Omaha market Monday. C B Younger had 4 Victrolas taken to their home Friday by G T Ray. Cal says he will listen to Rodeheaver now. Miss Ollie Younger a District 28 teacher will hold a Christmas Eve Basket Supper. The Farmer's Union meets on Section 20 with new members to be admitted.
Miss Bertha Green resumes duties after a week off in District 12. Mrs. George Bennett shows slow improvement with hope for recovery. Mrs. M Linstedt has been ill the past week. Glen Rominger reported illness in the area. Dewey Seigler slowly recovers from pneumonia after a severe spell. Fred Bills left Knorr Bros. for Missouri. Ed Hedman, near Durant, visited his brother-in-law Jonas Arderson Sunday.
A few Poland China males offered for sale described as immune with good size and quality. Breeding stock intended for disposal at low price to close out.
Press reports indicate brooches will be very popular this winter with Eastern jewelry firms planning large scale production. A major East Coast maker is preparing a full line in new designs to meet expected holiday demand as low neck dresses diminish brooch use.
