William Edward Ferris born August 12 1873 in Kewanee Illinois died December 5 in Osceola Nebraska at age 66 years 3 months and 23 days. He moved to Genoa Nebraska with parents then Polk County in 1908. Survived by wife Ida Margaret Schutz three sons five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral Friday at Fairview church with burial in Silver Creek cemetery.

At the Polk County Land Use Committee meeting held December 6 at Osceola Courthouse a Precinct Tree Committee was appointed for Clear Creek precinct. Swanson Sentenced to Five Years in State Penitentiary
Norris Swanson was sentenced to five years in the state penitentiary by Judge Hastings last week after conviction by a district court jury on auto theft. He was transported to Lincoln on Saturday to begin serving his term.

A Well Deserved Tribute to Bill Herrmann
John Bentley of the State Journal honors William Adam Herrmann for his perseverance through injuries and service. Herrmann, once a top guard at Nebraska, battled a broken collarbone and shoulder separations while leading as team captain at Columbia. He secured February reporting to Randolph Field to join the aviation corps, defying odds and lingering injury to stay with football and country.

For the next two Saturdays Osceola business men will distribute many valuable prizes each afternoon. The grand prize on Saturday Dec 23 is a fine two year old heifer.
