Former Osceola Pastor Dies in Omaha
Rev. R. W. Taylor a former pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Osceola was found dead in his room at the Y M C A in Omaha. He had been treated for a heart ailment since Thanksgiving and may have died of a heart attack. He traveled by motorcycle to many regions lecturing and lectured on his trips in Omaha. He was 69, never married, and survived by two sisters and a brother. He retired nearly four years ago after serving as an assistant to the Presbyterian synod of Nebraska.

A baby boy nine pounds seven ounces born yesterday morning to Mr and Mrs Ted Hutchinson of Silver Creek at Osceola Hospital. Mrs Hutchinson was formerly Miss Emma Wilcox. Paul Monson returned home after appendicitis operation at Osceola Hospital. Mrs LeRoy Rhodes and daughter Caroline Sevilla released from hospital. Harold Headlee had tonsils removed and returned home. Mrs Glenn Sack and Mrs George Finecy received medical treatment at Osceola Hospital with Dr Schroeder.

County Superintendent Olive M. McBeth hosted a tea for Polk County teachers from town and rural schools on Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church parlors. The decorated room featured blue and white, with three Christmas trees, a white centerpiece tree, and tall red candles. Mrs. F. H. Anderson and Mrs S. P. Johnson served as hostesses. Evelyn Kumpf sang, and John Irland, with Ruth Miller at the piano, played Christmas carols.

Stromsburg youth injured in trailer automobile crash
Clarence Burgeson, 24, of Stromsburg, is hospitalized in Lincoln after a trailer collision while he attempted to light flares from a towed car. He suffered a fractured pelvis and ankle, as another car veered into the rear and the trailer surged forward. His parents’ auto also wrecked nearby on the same evening.
