Annual County Fair in Progress at Polk County
Polk County's fifty first annual fair opened Tuesday with a varied program. Evening attendance improved over the afternoon, and a double header between York and Norfolk split games 3-2 and 7-3. A mule race drew about twenty five entries amid steady crowds and strong auto racing action drew attendees Wednesday. York won both end games amid wrangling. Concessions run by the American Legion report strong business while exhibits across departments attract visitors. The fair closes this evening.

Stromsburg Boy Wallace Knerr Hurt in Car Accident
Five year old Wallace Knerr son of Mrs Mabel Knerr was struck and run over near the Stromsburg Tire Shop. He sustained a fractured leg and severe head bruises as the car approached from the south. The injury occurred Saturday night and his mother arrived from Grand Island to be with him.

Oldest inhabited castle in Northumberland and Durham claimed
Old Lumley Castle near Chester le Street is argued to be the oldest inhabited castle in the two counties. Built as a manor around 933, it later gained four corner towers in the fourteenth century under Sir Ralph Lumley and has remained in Lumley family hands since Saxon days. Rev Collier Receives Unanimous Invitation
The fourth quarterly Methodist Conference met last Friday with strong reports from all departments. A ballot vote unanimously favored retaining Rev.
