Polk County 1937 wheat crop valued at 467,470 dollars from reports by state statistician Anderson at Lincoln. Polk farmers harvested 46,747 acres at an average yield of 10 bushels per acre, slightly below the state average. Lancaster led with 200 bushels per acre on 140,344 acres worth nearly 3 million dollars. Scottsbluff yielded 25 bushels per acre on 2,349 acres. The regional average price to farmers was 97 cents.

Norma Johnson of Stromsburg won Miss Polk County at the beauty pageant opening the annual county fair in Stromsburg. Shirley McMeekin of Snelby was runner up in the junior division, with Phyllis From Beverly Ann Graham and Darlene Gustafson also placing.
