Selective service plans shift as August registrants face induction
Park county selective service board sent 15 registrants to Omaha on Aug. 17 for physicals with many expected to be inducted in September. The draft aims to pull younger men now, including unmarried 1945 birth-year registrants, risking a backlog as more I-A married men and students face deferment changes and college deferments are urged to be filed. Polk county lists 78 college deferment prospects and 26 I-A married men with no children currently awaiting action.
