Four new members of the Osceola school faculty will begin duties on Monday September 5. The article lists their assignments and positions within the Osceola Schools.
Social Calendar notes IOOF and REBEKAH members and families will hold a picnic supper in Osceola park on Friday August 26 at 6 30 p m. Coffee and cold drinks will be furnished.
Voters in the newly formed No. 19 School District are urged to approve a $200000 bond for a new grade school in Osceola. The plan, developed by representatives from affected districts, includes eight classrooms a kindergarten a kitchen a sick room and a large gym and stage area to serve up to 300 students.
Four Polk county men volunteered for service in the armed forces and were sent to Omaha on Tuesday August 23. The men are Gerald L. Obrist of Osceola Marvin H. Ericson of Osceola Verlin Gronlund of Stromsburg and Dwayne I. Harms of Shelby.

Osceola schools music director Duane Johnson announces a two o'clock Saturday rehearsal for new marching band members. A Monday session for the full band follows, with regular summer rehearsals on Friday evening and a final concert the next night.
The Osceola Co G Johnson reunion drew 122 members and a visitor at Osceola Park on August 21 with numerous distant attendees from Omaha Lincoln Grand Island Hastings York and Council Bluffs among others. New arrivals include Candace Sue and many others with two marriages and one death reported. Next year’s event set for Buckley Park on the third Sunday in August.
Osceola Schools begin the new term on Monday September 5 with a 9 00 to 10 30 a m schedule for books lessons and class cards. Registration for grades varies by group on August 29 with times 9 00 to 11 00 a m for freshmen sophomores and kindergarten through eighth and 1 00 to 3 00 p m for juniors and seniors.
A tour to the Pierce Soil Conservation Development farm is planned for August 30. The farm, rented by Pierce county Soil Conservation District, tests and demonstrates soil conserving practices on sandy soil. Valley farmers will find conditions similar to those in their area. The tour departs between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. next Tuesday from Silver Creek and Lone Star for the 15 mile drive to Norfolk’s Pierce farm. Sponsored by the Polk County Soil Conservation District and Polk County Extension Service.

Mr and Mrs Lynn Shockey and family of York visited Oscar Jones home Sunday afternoon. Tom Engelhardt and daughter of Saronville and Arthur Ekstrom of Clarks visited Joe Fjell and Joey Friday evening. The article notes several other Sunday visitors to Osceola homes.
Mrs. Melvin Koss formerly Shirley Miller of Lincoln was guest of honor at a Sunday bridal shower hosted by Mrs. Ivan Stratton. Thirty five guests attended with games and contests. The party featured a green and white lunch served by Mrs. Stratton and helpers from Clarks and Osceola.
A county wide Polk County Farm Bureau meeting will be held at the Community Hall at the Polk County Fairgrounds on Friday August 26 at 8 pm. Kenneth Snyder from the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation will speak on agricultural problems. Lunch will be served.
Four days of speed events are planned for the Nebraska State Fair. Edwin Schultz, the fair secretary, announced that big car races will occur on Sunday September 4 and Thursday September 8, with motorcycle races on Tuesday September 6 and a 100 mile late model stock car race on Friday September 9. The IMCA sanctions auto events, AMA supervises cycles. Bobby Grimm, the IMCA big car leader, has entered both big car races driving Hector Honore Offermhauser, a car with four IMCA world records and 18 IMCA time trial records.

Mr and Mrs Ted Clouse and Mr and Mrs Keith Clouse of Friend Nebraska attended a Sunday birthday party for Cindy Nahrstedt age unknown at the Dale Nahrstedt home.
A letter from T A Filipi Director Division of Sanitation commends Osceola Pool for quality operation after an inspection on July 19 1955. Attendees included Mayor Fred Bond pool manager Dana Bond and A L Short of the sanitation department notes water clear pH 78 and chlorine 05 ppm.
Pastor Bernt G. Johnson of Calvary Lutheran Church Swede Home has been called again to mission work this time within the United States. He previously served as a foreign missionary in Africa and South America.
Garden Club met Wednesday evening, August 17, at Lulu Hendrickson’s home. Roll call recalled county fair scenes. Mrs. Fred Bond led the program reading an article on My Flower Garden and a poem Gardens and shared summer flower experiences. Lunch and social time followed.
