Western Power and Gas Co will distribute about $600,000 to customers over upcoming months after a supplier refund from Northern Natural Gas Co. The average residential credit is around $5 per customer, applied as 3 cents per thousand cubic feet used until the total is issued.

Polk County Fair horse show draws large crowd and awards
About 80 riders took part in the Grand Entry at the Polk County Fair horse show sponsored by Route 66 Riders of Polk and Stromsburg Jolly Riders. Judges were Jack Voss of Grand Island with chores by Dick Watts Osceola. Winners included Bruce Treffer Osceola and Leona Richters Stromsburg among many others. Also announced are Polk registrants forwarded to Omaha for induction and upcoming IFYE visits across Nebraska with 18 counties to be hosted before November 14.

Services August 16 at Kepner Roberts Funeral Home with Rev C H Carter officiating. Escorts were Floyd Baker Vernon Morris Richard Borden Melvin Oberg James Gerrard and Alvin Schneider. Interment at Hoffer Cemetery.
