Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lincoln for Vera Peterson Harvey a former Osceola resident and 1913 Osceola High School graduate. Burial followed at Lincoln Memorial Park. Unofficial election results show Ordinance No 342 For 31 Against 333 and Ordinance No 343 For 3 Against 394.

Platte College Nursing Graduation Honors Students

Maria Sterup and Mrs. Robert Lux received Licensed Practical Nursing diplomas at Platte Technical Community College in Columbus during Friday graduation exercises. Twenty six nursing seniors and twenty freshmen were capped by sponsors. Susan Throckmorton also received a cap as part of the ceremony. Mrs. Lux, president of the graduating class, welcomed attendees as Mary Lou Holmberg presented caps and diplomas.

Osceola adopts new attendance policy for 1977-78

Osceola Junior-Senior High School will implement a district-wide attendance policy eliminating distinctions between excused and unexcused absences. Eight days allowed without credit deduction, four to eight day limits per course with deductions, and make-up time required. Merchants play Beatrice in Boelus Saturday at 8:15 p.m.

Farmers Cooperative Grains reports strong year and stockholder turnout

The Farmers Cooperative Grain Company held its annual meeting at Columbus Agricultural Park with 1,100 stockholders present. GM Joe Headrick announced assets of 3,516,020.80, net profit 563,961.58 and cash dividends over 100,000. Ralph Hofstad of Land O Lakes Felco urged stockholders to promote cooperatives. Dale Beck elected director for District 4. Dividends were distributed at registration. barbecue followed.

The 1977 78 city budget was accepted as printed with no opposition at the August city council meeting on Thursday the 4th. Council directed R W Beck and Associates to prepare cast figures for lagoon construction without federal funds. Park board recommendations to put the swimming pool on the current tennis court site were approved. Building permits issued to Ivan Flowers and Mills and Mills for office building additions. City boundaries in north Osceola extended to include Bill Peterson and Jack Wieseman additions.
