Farmers Hold Their Annual County Picnic in Stromsburg

The Polk County Farm Bureau sponsored picnic at Buckley Park Stromsburg last Thursday drew a large turnout of farmers. V Vaniman spoke on American Farm Bureau Federation work and farm legislation and the push for economic equality for agriculture. A 4 H Club from Osceola performed two choruses, Marie Ingalls from Shelby read, and the Kelly sisters played a piano trio. Perus C Nelson introduced Enoch Ekstrand and G L Woodworth of the Rural Power District who outlined rural electrification progress and cooperation plans. Coffee was served by Stromsburg Commercial Club.

Triangle Swim Meet Ends At Osceola Pool

Last Sunday a triangle swim meet among Columbus David City and Osceola took place at Osceola pool. Junior division winner David City 32 points senior division winner Columbus 38 points. David City led girls division with a win. Life saving classes progress with students including Wesley Parks Mervin Green and others.
