Chadron Teener Baseball Winner Advances to Nationals
Chadron Nebraska teen Skip Umshler 15, a left handed first baseman, broke a 5 5 tie in the ninth inning to lead Chadron past Howard South Dakota in a regional Teener baseball title game. Osceola defeated Fullerton 14 to 2 in a benefit game with Quick and Grossnicklaus as battery. In Sunday’s 11 inning affair Osceola won 3 to 6 as Brazee and Grossnick Jans Rudolph and Lassek Anderson stored the batteries. A makeup game with St. Edward was played in Columbus last night and Genoa visits next Sunday for the final home game of the season.

Fire Destroys Home And Service Station In Omaha
A combined service station and home belonging to the Henry Krogh family was completely destroyed around 11:00 a.m. Monday in Omaha. Initial reports cited fumes from a gas-filled transport, later thought to stem from a gas dryer leak in the basement. Mrs. Krogh and her son Gordon and another boy were inside but upstairs. they received treatment for shock and minor injuries and were not hospitalized. Mrs. Krogh is the daughter of Axel Anderson of Osceola.

Chester Dake Dies at Water Show in Nebraska
Chester Dake age 77 formerly of Osceola now of Phillips Nebraska died Sunday of a heart attack while attending a water skiing carnival at Johnson Lake near Lexington. Survivors include his wife three sons James Paul and Dale a brother Will of Silver Creek and sisters Hetty Cassady Greeley Colorado Paul Wisely Central City and Wm Neu bel Rising City. Funeral services were held at 10:30 A M Wednesday at the Methodist Church in Phillips with burial in Rising City Cemetery.
