Emya Myers of Chambers travels from Shelby to return home with Blair. The Ingalls and Virginia enjoy Idaho Springs and Harrison trip. Blanche Counter of Colo and family visit Moon in Shelby and Ris ing City. Bess Ray Lou Jane Johnson and Gloria Pierce head to Camp Kiwanis Milford for two, one and one weeks respectively.
Social notes recount visits and hospitality in St. Andrews. Families including Bernt, Dworek, Maes, Cerny, Eller, Gab riel, Jaax, and Messing share meals and take day trips to Lincoln, Omaha, Fort Crook, and Ulysses. A Clarks beat Platte Valley 6 to 5 in a Sunday ball game.

Mont Mustard and family traveling to Canada to visit relatives. Miss Vertie Heitzman treated for a heat attack with nurse Mrs. Messing.
Mr and Mrs Axel Anderson hosted Sunday visitors in the Ansel Fredrickson home. Families including the Fredricksons Petersons Monsons and Smiths shared meals and visits across Davenport Iowa, Stanton Iowa and local homes. Dorcas group plans a Home Missions program with treasure chests to bring.
The Jolly Workers 4-H Cooking Club held its last meeting Monday August 1 at Osceola Park. Elaine Bond was absent. others attended. Reports were submitted and fair plans discussed. The group will sell season and single Polk County fair tickets and enter posters booklets and the song and yell contest. They practiced at the Methodist Church and Ruth Walgreen hosted lunch. Visitors Arlene and Gloria Pearson attended.
The Polk County Farmers Union invites members and friends to a full day at City Park on Thursday August 11. Activities include a softball game, a noon dinner, Polk High School Band music, an address by H L Keeney, kids races, balloon contest, candy kiss scramble, ladies contests and men’s foot races plus a corn shelling and hog calling event.
Charles Prososki, 67, a long time Polk County farmer who resided in Columbus for two years, died at University Hospital in Omaha last Saturday after two years of ill health. Born in Poland in 1871, he came to Nebraska and farmed in Nance and Polk counties. He married Anna Kula on February 24, 1897, and is survived by two sons and nine daughters, including Mrs. Joe Kielian, and brothers John and Walter Prososki of Silver Creek. Funeral services were held in Columbus Tuesday morning.
Farmers Union members invite families to Polk for a full day on August 11 featuring races ball games and contests. Omaha State President H G Keeney will speak at the event.

A four month old son of Mr and Mrs C L Hunt died of pneumonia in Hastings with funeral services held there. American Legion action by G E Ekstrand in Fre mont. A birthday surprise at Willie Johnson home. Osceola visitors and Missouri trips announced. baby daughter born to Mr and Mrs Forrest Anderson on July 27.

The first Annual Young Peoples Bible Conference of the American Sunday School Union will be held August 10 to 14 at Polk Bible Camp grounds. Classes start at 9:00 a.m. with topics on Christian Doctrine Life of Christ Ephesians Personal Work Life of Peter Inner Circle and Sunday School Teaching and Management. Faculty includes Rev J H Koehler Chadron Nebraska Rev I C Noyce Wheatland Wyoming and Rev and Mrs Turner Minden Nebraska. Evening evangelistic service at 8:00 p.m. public invited.
Mrs R J Martin and family returned home after a week with her parents the Mathesons. Jolly Cookers Club meets Friday at 2 06 at Mrs Edgar Wiselys home. Mrs Ira Irland and companions went to Shelby for a shower honoring Mrs Rex Peterson. Baptist Home Missionary Society plans a picnic August 8 at City Park. Miss Marguerite Senn farewells and departure for New York and France August 10 scheduled.
The county Farm Bureau sets its annual picnic for August 16 at Osceola Park starting at noon. Morning events include a 4-H Health contest for boys and girls with Drs. Alliband Wurtz Eklund Olson leading divisions. The afternoon features a public speaking prize, songs, a duet, a manicuring demo, women's project club talk, and a 4-H summary by Agricultural Agent Peterson. All county farm families are invited.
