Omaha Air Races Set for August at Municipal Airport
The fourth annual Omaha Air Races will be held at the Municipal Airport on August 11 and 12 with races at 250 mph and a 200 mph qualifying requirement for the Gene Epply trophy event. A separate Saturday race offers $1,000 in cash prizes with 175 mph qualifying. Tickets start at 50 cents with over 10 000 seats available and can be purchased by mail from the Omaha Air Race association.

Tourists Injured in Auto Accident Near Osceola
Four tourists from Illinois were injured when their Pontiac coach overturned on the highway east of Osceola after a blowout. The group includes Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Branahan of Mapleton, Mrs. Cora Ricketts of Pekin, and Mrs. Fannie Woods of Indianapolis. Ricketts suffered several cracked ribs. Branahan tore ligaments and broke fingers. others were badly bruised. Dr. R L Schroeder treated them. Ricketts was taken to the Mickey home due to no hospital rooms. The car was badly damaged and towed to town for repair. they expect to resume travel west within a day or two.

Wm. Thelen and Ervin Taddiken of Shelby were bound over to district court for trial on sale and possession charges. Thelen received 60 days for possession as a second offense. Taddiken was fined $100 and costs for possession as a first offense. Both appealed and remain free on bond.

Migratory Bird Stamp Required For Duck Hunters
Duck and goose hunters must carry a migratory bird hunting stamp in addition to a state license. The stamp and certificate cost 1.00 and must be affixed to the hunting license by the postmaster after application. Stamp sales start August 1 1934 at designated post offices.

Life Saving and First Aid Demonstration in Shelby
On Monday evening July 23 a planned First Aid and Life Saving program was held at the Shelby Auditorium under the Shelby Volunteer Firemen. The York District Red Cross First Aid Team provided instruction on injury care bandaging splinting and artificial respiration. R A Graham urged accident prevention and preparedness while Do M Humphrey noted Red Cross and utility company readiness. A kitten ball game between Osceola and Shelby Fire Departments opened the event with Shelby winning 23 to 13.
