Dr. W. L. Byers Dies in Wakefield Hospital
Dr. W. L. Byers 62 died at Wakefield hospital Sunday night after a week as a heart attack patient. He had practiced dentistry in Wakefield for about twenty years. Survived by widow, two sons Dr. Paul Byers a California army dentist and William Jr a teacher, brothers Don of Wakefield and Walter of Lincoln. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Lutheran church and burial at Wakefield cemetery.

Two Nebraskans Drown In Colorado River
Three Nebraska youths Glen Marker Long 12 Jon Grant Long 10 and Dennis David Williams 12 drowned July 21 while attempting to wade the Eagle River two miles below Minturn Colorado. The Long brothers former Osceola residents were buried in Osceola Cemetery after funeral services at Rising City Methodist Church. Survivors include their mother and stepfather James Scholl of Minturn Colorado brother James Long of Boulder and grandparents George Marker of Rising City.

Ice Cream Social Draws Big Crowd at Lutheran Church
The annual ice cream social on the Lutheran church lawn drew several hundred attendees Friday evening. About 30 gallons of ice cream 15 gallons of Kool Aid and 30 cakes were served along with coffee. Proceeds fund a Luther League movie projector for the church. Pleasant weather aided enjoyment.
