A Friday afternoon fire of unknown origin destroyed a granary and a machine shed at the Hilbert Buchta farm in the valley northwest of Osceola. She was born Mary E Lucas January 12 1860 in Lincoln Illinois and married Joseph Harbert, then John Goff. She leaves three children, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews with funeral services held at the U B Church in Shelby.

Old Settlers Picnic Planned in Osceola Next Friday
Plans are under way for the Old Settlers picnic in Osceola on August 9. The all day event opens with nine o clock registration at the courthouse, a noon picnic at the city park with free coffee, an Edgar Howard address, band concerts, Osceola versus an outside baseball game, free swimming, rides, and a pavement dance to close. Shirley Temple’s Our Little Girl appears at the Rivoli Theatre.
