State Engineer Cochrane announces stop signs will be placed along the entire 6200 mile state highway system. The 16 000 signs delivered will re render highways arterial and drivers must stop and wait for clear passage.
Mrs W L Obrist recovers from appendicitis at York Hospital. Edith Heaston improves after illness. Pete Fuller very ill. Families travel between York David City Gresham and Osceola. Geraldine Davidson visits grandmother in Gresham. Odd Fellows Rebekahs social at Gresham well attended. Dick Diers ill with pneumonia. Several families visit and host in local towns including Stromsburg and York.
Handel Collier, minister, invites parishioners to regular Sunday worship at Sonulay School in the morning, morning worship, Epworth League, evening service, and mid week prayer at 7 30 P M on Wednesday. Ladies Aid Society meets Friday with Mrs O If Mickey hostess. Quote about giving to the Father.
Saturday at 2 P M the Junior Mission Band gathers at the church all invited. Sunday after Easter Sunday School and Bible Classes at 10 A M Swedish Worship at 11 A M English Vespers at 8 P M Tuesday 7 30 P M Swedish English Bible and Prayer hour all invited. 8 30 Choir and the Deacons meet Friday evening Luther League hosts at Bodin home. Thursday 2 30 Ladies Aid meets at church hosted by Mrs Hedlund
Miss Lucy Cockson is ill and Miss Leona Nantkes teaches this week. Jay Richards died Tuesday from blood poisoning after a minor injury. Mr and Mrs Hubert Alt visited Omaha, then returned Friday. Shelby visitors Mr and Mrs John Lockard and children came to L E Treadways Sunday. Mrs William Hanshew was on the sick list. John Cerny hosted guests Mr and Mrs Leo Kresha and Mr and Mrs N V Gonderinger of Gresham. Del Richmond visited the John Cerny home Monday evening.
Five Osceola Country Club players helped the Osceola squad place second at the season opening golf meet in David City with a team total of 428. David City won with 421 as 100+ members watched. Low round belonged to David City's L J Eberly with 75, while Mart Anderson led Osceola with 79.
Friday observance hosted by Womans nineteen and Osceola school day featured readings by Bennett Johnson Fraser Frasier and others. Trees planted by Boy Scouts. later honored at City Park. Horse team hitch demonstration at Clyde Hennings farm with 55 attendees and多 farmers from York and Butler counties expressing interest and value.
Jay Richards died after blood poisoning from a elbow bruise received when he fell from a plow near Osceola Nebraska. Born February 16 188, he died April 24 at Lutheran Hospital York Nebr aged 45 years 2 months and 8 days. Survived by wife Margaret Webster and three sons Lloyd Wayne Lovight his parents and siblings. Funeral Friday at 2:30 at the Methodist Church.
Mr and Mrs Ben Farris and children and Mrs Stephen Brooks drove to Grand Island Sunday to spend the day with relatives. Duncan's advertises buttermilk. Mr and Mrs George Malek and children drove to Elkhorn Saturday for a few days with relatives.
The county agency and Farm Bureau plan a Polk County collective exhibit at the State Fair to showcase crops and garden produce. Farmers are invited to enter products for state prizes with premiums listed by the State Fair Board.
The Oscenla Woman's Club hosted its annual Spring party in the Methodist Church parlors with blue and yellow decor. The program featured a song by the music division led by Mrs. I. W. Schuman, a one act play The Groper Hang High by Eleanor Mills Wilma Pike and Mrs H J Tex, and old fashioned songs by Mrs. F D Mills Mrs. Kenneth Cornish and Mrs Clyde Peterson in period costumes. Delegates reported on the Stromsburg district convention, and officers for 1928 1929 were installed. Late in the evening refreshments were served by several club members.
