Nebraska lawmakers enact a state sales income tax system after 100 years of stand pat. A 2 percent sales tax begins May 1 with a step down to 2 percent in 1969. Personal and corporate income taxes start in 1968, with wage withholding. Repeals remove the head tax and household goods and intangible property taxes in 1968.
