Bulldogs sweep county meet as Osceola star shines
Osceola's Bulldogs dominated the Polk County Track Meet scoring 93 points to Polk 27. Jack Cerny led with wins in six of seven events including the 60 yard high hurdles, 100 yard low hurdles, shot put, long jump, pole vault, and triple jump. Other firsts came from Randy Bond, Duane Gabriel, Mike Cerny, Cal Coffin, Jim Green, and Marv Simonsen. Four Polk County records fell, all by Osceola athletes, with standout times and marks set by Cerny, Coffin, and the two mile relay crews.

Nancy Mills of Osceola Nebraska, daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Mills, is a member of Grinnell College Choral Society. The 132 voice choir performed Bach Mass in F Minor and Mozart Coronation Mass at a April 12 concert in Grinnell Roberts Theater. C H S Musicians Attend Genoa Festival
Twenty four Osceola High students were chosen for the Conference Music Festival at Genoa with categories for small ensembles solos large vocal groups and bands. Medals and certificates were awarded and results for Osceola were delayed to next week.
