Fire Destroys Old Osceola Homestead on Farm
Fire destroyed the brick homestead on Oswald Kropatsch’s farm north of Osceola Monday afternoon. The eighties-built structure, once a home, had been turned into a machine shed. Sparks from a nearby steam engine powering a saw likely started the blaze. Osceola firemen, aided by Duncan equipment, arrived too late to save the building but confined the flames and prevented spread to nearby structures. Most tools and equipment inside were destroyed. only one wall remained before being razed.

Judge S. G. Smith Dies in Kentucky at 70
Word reached relatives of Judge S. G. Smith's death in Albany Kentucky on March 24 after a brief pneumonia illness. Born October 17, 1866 on a Huntersville farm, he moved to Albany in 1892 and held posts as postmaster circuit clerk county judge and practiced law. He served two terms in the Kentucky legislature and was active in local civic affairs. He and Eva Revelle wed in Osceola and later resided in Kentucky.
