Bulldogs Sweep Triangular Meet Dominate Track Events

Murray Jones reports OHL Coach Pete Chapman led the Bulldogs in a triangular meet against Silver Creek and East Butler. The Bulldogs captured first with 81 points, Silver Creek 79, East Butler 17. In field events the Bulldogs swept the discus with Lydon Wieseman winning 38.89 meters, Troy Johnson 36.25, Rick Johnson 32.33, Duane Tenniges 29.11. Dan Bond and Tim Johansen won the 100 and 200 meter dashes respectively.

Osceola High School to showcase arts and athletics

The Osceola High School fine arts festival is set for Friday night at 7:30 in the new gym. Rebecca Scheele arranges the event featuring Cecile Waldman students’ art, drama and music, plus entries from drama and speech contests and district music contest selections. The bulletin also covers Bulldogs track results: Greg Cliffords wins pole vault, Zelasney and Wieseman earn multiple placements, and relay teams claim wins as the team looks to a triangular meet with Stromsburg and Cedar Rapids.

Bergland Announces Five Part Seed and Loan Reform

Secretary of Agriculture Bob Bergland unveils a five part plan to bolster grain marketing and extend the commodity loan program. It includes a farmer owned food grain reserve for 1976 wheat and rice, a two month loan extension to May 31 1977, higher loan rates for 1977 feed grains and soybeans, lower loan interest, and expanded loan coverage for storage and drying equipment with reduced down payments.

Swanson Takes Over Co op Oil Manager Post

Bob Swanson assumed duties as the new manager of Co op Oil Inc in Stromsburg. The firm runs stations in Osceola Polk Rising City Silver Creek and Stromsburg. Swanson is a Stromsburg High School and Kearney State College graduate and Navy veteran who taught in Omaha schools. He and his wife will move to a new Stromsburg home in May.

Osceola Council Sets Public Meeting on City Landfill

The Mayor and City Council of Osceola will hold a public meeting on landfill operations at the downtown auditorium on Thursday April 14. M W Sheil chief of the Solid Waste Division of Nebraska Environmental Control Agency will attend to provide information and answer questions.

Art Show at School Friday in Osceola High Building

The students of Amy Tomasevic and Cecile Waldman in Shelby and Osceola schools will display artwork all day Friday April 15 in the Osceola junior-senior high building. The exhibit accompanies the OHS Fine Arts Festival ending Friday evening with a combined music and drama program in the new gym.
