Osceola High School Board announces a $100 annual scholarship by J W Buchta Alverta Buchta Herrmann and Verna Buchta Rhodes in memory of their parents the late Mr and Mrs John Buchta. Awarded to a graduating OHS member chosen by faculty with possible nominations from students. Donors provide $500 for the first five awards.

Beebe Pioneer of Polk County Dies in Osceola
Emmett Beebe longtime Polk County resident and Shelby area farmer dies at St. Francis Hospital Osceola of an asthmatic heart condition at 10 15 a m on April 7. He was born July 6 1870 near Phelps City Missouri the last survivor of Nancy and David Beebe’s fourteen children. He lived in Missouri Nebraska and California before returning to Polk County in 1892. He married Mary Alice Ransom in 1897 later remarried Alpha Johnston in 1927. Survived by wife Alpha children Laura Van Hoosen Harry C Miles H William E Charles F Raymond stepchildren Hugh Johnston Tressie Brown and many grandchildren and relatives. Funeral services were held at the Shelby U B Church and burial followed in Hoffer cemetery.

Lincoln man George S Wolfe died in Lincoln Saturday April 6 at age 85. He had lived in the city about twenty years and is survived by three sons Joseph M of Lincoln Ralph W of Inwood Iowa Harold E of New Matamoras Ohio, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the C L Stewart home with Dr Frank Pfoutz of Lincoln officiating. Burial was in Osceola cemetery.
