Last Saturday Polk county joined other districts in distributing loan application blanks for crop and feed loans. District supervisor L R Leonard led the Columbus meeting. Loans aid farmers needing funds for seed, machinery repair, work stock feed, tractor fuel, and oil, secured by a crop lien at 5 142 percent.
Osceola High School Glee Club presented His Majesty's Ship Pinafore at the Rivoli Theatre to a large crowd. Seventy six students under Miss Ruth Miller practiced daily, bringing a lively Portsmouth deck tale to life with roles including Captain Corcoran, Josephine, Sir Joseph, and Ralph Rackstraw, plus a bustling sailor chorus.
Mrs Helen Severine of Stromsburg and Harvey McKeag were married on April 10 1936. The bride is daughter of Reuben and Mrs Noyd of west of Stromsburg. groom is son of James and Mrs McKeag southeast of Osceola. They will live on a farm southeast of Osceola with a reception planned tomorrow at the bride's parents home.
Lyle Johnson, Stromsburg’s star pitcher, left for Duncan Oklahoma to join Keokuk Iowa in spring training with the Western League outfit. Johnson, formerly a boy pitcher, had a standout season last year and accepted a professional contract with the Keokuk club.
Osceola joins Nebraska communities in selling Opportunity Seals to aid crippled children. The Nebraska Society for Crippled Children coordinates efforts for over 7000 affected youths. Osceola women organize sales next Saturday and Wednesday to help reach a million seals before Easter led by Mrs. W. W. Norton, Mrs. L. M. Merrick, Mrs. Walter Wells, and Mrs. A. F. Nuquist.
Funeral services for Miss Ida M. Hanson were held at the First Methodist Church in Stromsburg with Rev. E C Staley and Rev. W H Wright officiating. Burial followed at Stromsburg Cemetery. pallbearers included M D Strong L Vance Sharp Ansel Nordstrom and others. Survivors include six sisters and one brother with several out of town relatives.
Henry S. Knerr born December 8 1862 in Jefferson County Iowa near Brighton died April 1 1935 at 72 years 3 months 23 days. He moved with family to Nebraska in 1888 and lived on farms near Stromsburg Polk retiring fifteen years ago to Polk. Survived by three sisters five nieces five nephews and many relatives. parents Frederick Knerr Catherine Myers Knerr and siblings preceded him.
The Polk County Extension Clubs invite homemakers to the annual achievement day at the Presbyterian Church in Osceola on Wednesday April 17 at 1 30 p m County chairman Mrs George Irland says Live At Home lessons will provide the program material and visitors will see the clubs work The event closes the project year with no admission and no collection expected
The Stromsburg high school will present the annual spring operetta Once In A Blue Moon Friday evening in the high school auditorium under director Miss Margaret E. Anderson. Community notices include local visits, church events, and upgrades to the Farmers Oil Company and club facilities.
Mabel Phidella Kuntzelman Atkinson born October 4 1885 in Columbus Nebraska died April 4 1935 in Kearney Nebraska at age 49. She married Bert Atkinson on May 17 1910 and mothered three children Sieg el Bertis and Phidella. Survived by her children her father Charles Kuntzelman and three brothers Ed Vernie and Clinton. Funeral services conducted by Rev Pengelly at Kepner funeral home Osceola and burial in Osceola cemetery.

Twenty five girls from the Chaminade Chorus of Luther College Wahoo directed by Prof. Elwood Kraft with accompanist Loretta Gulleen will perform at St Paul Lutheran Church on Sunday April 14 at 11 oclock. The program includes sacred and secular works by noted composers.
