In Stromsburg E Lunner returned from Lincoln after serving on the Petit jury. Pauline Ryström married Mervin Carlson at the Rystrom home in Lincoln area. City election saw Mayor Minnick reelected and council seats won by Olsen, Gustefson, Swanson, Hultgren, and Alvin as Clerk. About 500 voters participated. High school district No 10 opened its new building with Gov Weaver as speaker. Several local residents made visits, marriages occurred, and a string of illness and hospitalizations are noted including scarlet fever, appendicitis, and serious illness of Arthur Ericson. Mrs A C Carlson died in Stromsburg.

More than thirty schools with over 150 contestants gathered at Jackson High for the District 1 Commercial Contest. Osceola’s Arlene Steeple placed in the Spelling division while Pawnee City led with 17 points and York and Fairbury tied for second with 15 each. Evelyn Johnson, Commercial Instructor, notes the largest class in the school’s history with over 60 students enrolled and expects department growth next fall.
