Engineer Curtis Constable Killed in Seaboard Collision
Curtis Constable, formerly of this city, an engineer for the Seaboard Line, was fatally injured in a collision on Friday morning near Raleigh, North Carolina. Details were sparse but a telegram to Charles Tierney, chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, disclosed his death later that day. Constable, a veteran of O and W Railroad service, served in the Spanish American War with Co I, 24th Separate Company, and leaves a widow Maggie Wilkinson and two children, Rebecca Louise and Harriet Marguerite, along with his parents and six sisters and three brothers. Delegations from local lodges traveled to Binghamton for his funeral, with services planned for Tuesday afternoon.

Orange County Agricultural Society directors met at Russell House to revise the premium list. William G. Miller of Jacksonville died last Sunday. His funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from his mother Mary E. Miller’s home 66 East Avenue. Rev. Dr. Charles Flint Allen officiated and Middle town Lodge No. 112, I.C. C. F. presided. Lodge marshals T. W. Davey Dwight Bascock L. J. Davey acted as Noble Grand and J. J. Wood as chaplain. Thirty five lodge members attended along with tributes and pieces from Jacksonville. Pallbearers included L. H. Billings L. W. Davey A. Springstead W. C. Benz L. N. Lukens and Archibald Kirschbaum. Interment followed in Hillside Cemetery.

House panel defeats Sims resolution on Brownsville affair
The sub committee of the House Committee on Military Affairs on Friday defeated Sims resolution endorsing President Roosevelt's discharge of the colored troops in the Brownsville affair. On Thursday evening the 24th ult the Mansion House at Monticello was sold to S Greenburg and William Greenfield of New York City who will reopen on the 12th inst under their management They were offered a thousand dollars above the purchase price on Saturday The previous October the Mansion House was bought by Stax Cooper and Louis J Levison and had remained closed since.
