Excellent Ration for Eggs Prof. Chambers Demonstrates Success
At a Colorado agricultural college poultry institute Prof. W. G. Chambers exhibited a Rhode Island Red hen that laid 200 eggs in a year. He keeps 40 to 50 hens, tracks expenses, and reports about one dollar per hen for feed last year. His flock averages just over twelve dozen eggs annually, with market price around 25 cents a dozen. He attributes success to intelligent feeding, good care and trap nesting, using dry feed and a light daily grain mix plus a dry mash in self feeding hoppers.

Some Troubles With Ducks
When raising ducks the nature of the duck is key. Do not mix ducklings with chicks as they soil water and consume food. Ducks need soft food and ample water at feeding time, plus green feed and sand. Kept dry in a clean bed with proper food, ducks grow fast and stay healthy.
Poultry Breeding Tips From Old Notes
The text argues keeping chicks lice free aids growth, notes old geese lay more eggs and are reliable, and young geese produce fewer eggs early. Fresh air and sunshine are strong disinfectants. Indian Runner ducks rarely sit, guinea hens can be profitable, and ducks lose breeding value after year four. Egg production ranges 125 to 200 per year with proper care.
