Social bridge party honors holiday spirited hosts
Miss Gertrude Dula reported hosting a large group at Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Bistline on Main street with seven tables of bridge and two of set back. Prizes went to Miss Gladys Warren Mrs. H. C. Fisher and Dr. D. M. McIntosh. Guests included Dr. and Mrs. D. M. McIntosh and many local residents.

Funeral services for Mr A Burgin Halford
Funeral services for Mr. A Burgin Halford, who died at his home on Crooked Creek last Wednesday, were held at Salem church. Surviving children include Mrs C L Le of Old Fort Rt 1, Mrs C P Lyfle of Old Fort Rt 2, Mrs Johnson Nesbitt of Old Fort, and Mr J W Halford of Marion. Interment at Salem cemetery. Twenty eight grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren survive. The funeral was conducted by Rev Medlin of West Asheville with Rev J L Rayle and Rev Melton assisting. Credit to early pioneer family. former War Between the States veteran.

The junior and senior glee clubs at Old Fort school postponed their entertainment due to inclement weather. The performance will be held after the Christmas holidays.

Christmas Church Programs At Old Fort
Christmas exercises and pageants are noted at the Baptist Presbyterian and Methodist churches in Old Fort. The Baptist church dates include a Christmas tree and music on Dec 24 and a Birth of Christ pageant with about 100 participants. A White Christmas was held at the Presbyterian church and a Christmas pageant at the Methodist church. Mrs. Melvin Lewis died at Marion Hospital after a major operation. interment followed at Old Fort Cemetery.
