Mrs Stockfield Funeral Held in Muscatine
Mrs W A Stockfield an Oelwein resident for 21 years died Aug 20 at her niece Mrs Marvin Schweitzer’s Savanna home. Funeral was Aug 23 in Muscatine. She suffered a heart attack in May while visiting brothers in Muscatine and later moved to Savanna. She and husband ran the Union hotel in town for 10 years. Survived by stepson in Oelwein, brothers William and Albert of Muscatine, William Stockfield of Medina, N, and Mrs Schweitzer. husband died five years ago.

Maj Benjamin Carlin and his wife Elinore began a 26000 mile voyage from New York in a 17 foot Sea going jeep. They were picked up by the tanker New Jersey 270 miles southeast of New York and 25730 miles from the goal. The jeep broke down August 15 and they were adrift ten days before rescue. They will land at Halifax Nova Scotia.
