In Batos Massachusetts on February 14 Mrs. Robinson declared she would rather be hanged than go to prison for life. Since learning of her death Friday morning she has refused all nourishment. Jail officers tried to induce her to eat but believe she intends to starve herself to death.
A derrick used to erect an elevated road structure collapsed onto a passing streetcar on Reed avenue in Brooklyn. The fall crushed the car killing two people and injuring seventeen passengers amid a crowded morning crowd.
Washington February 14 A sub committee of the Committee on Banking and Currency will report to the full committee with favorable recommendations a bill authorizing the issue of not more than 55 000 000 nor less than five dollars implied fractional currency in denominations of five ten twenty five and fifty cents.
Congressman Dartington of Pennsylvania yesterday introduced a bill urging the Treasury Secretary to loan the surplus in the Treasury at 2 per cent interest on deposit of Government bonds as security, and today received offers to take the entire surplus.
Young man 25 named Knox seized Hannah King at the Centropolis Hotel in Kansas City Missouri and blinded her by pouring ammonia into her eyes after her refusal to marry him. He has escaped arrest as of yesterday.
In Rockford Missouri on February 11 Arthur Blake was found guilty of first degree murder for the July killing of Eddie McDowell. Co-defendant Thomas Harris was convicted last fall and held to testify against Blake, with respite until May 11 for its proceedings.
John Lloyd, son of a wealthy farmer from four miles from Guisden Alabama, drew a loaded gun from a wagon to shoot a bird when the gun discharged. The load entered his left breast and killed him instantly.

Morrison Will Lafler of Watrous New Mexico is in custody at Olean for the 18 world murder of arch timber merchant Clifford. The other twin James Lafler, once believed dead, is now arrested after a pardon for the same crime. Clifford was killed in his hotel room after a man paid 300 dollars in his presence. The killer fled with the money hidden in the mattress. The case hinges on the twin brothers and their false death reports.

Captain Dick the desperado and leader of the Texas train robbers was killed this afternoon while resisting arrest by Sheriff Alles of Trio County Texas. The incident occurred near Kilfed, St. Louis on February 13.
In Ooney Illinois on February 12 Edward Ivy aged seventeen was killed when Miss Shelly a similarly aged girl fired an old musket while joking about snapping caps at the Shelly residence in St Marie. The gun discharged striking Ivy in the forehead killing him instantly and casting gloom over the village.
In Carthage Texas a county treasurer Hill was killed last Saturday evening. He was struck with an axe and his throat cut. The county safe was robbed of about 10,000 dollars. A messenger sought aid from Sheriff Perry and his bloodhounds to locate the killer as the community gathers to search for the perpetrator.
Eight year old Edward Hafendorfer of Louisville Kentucky was killed instantly when his five year older brother William discharged a loaded single barrel gun while playing at their home on Twenty sixth street and Cane Run road. Edward sat at a table with other children when the load struck the back of his neck and nearly severed his head.
George G C Jackson and Alfred Craighead of the Sixty-eighth Pennsylvania Infantry Association announce a Quincy granite monument fifteen feet high to be placed near the Emmettsburg road north of the peach orchard. It commemorates heavy losses during the second day while supporting Clark's New Jersey battery and will be dedicated July 2 during the army reunion, marking the twenty fifth anniversary of the battle.
Two professional safe blowers were arrested at 1 oclock this morning in Alamo ten miles west of Crawfordsville while drilling a safe in M J Myers dry goods store.
