Golden Wedding at Bacon Farm Near Pana
The golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy L. Bacon was celebrated at their home on their farm one mile west of Pana with about forty neighbors and Rev. E. W. Clark presiding. The couple, born in 1812 and 1813 respectively, married in 1833, moved from New York to Ohio and finally Illinois, and raised two children who died in the Civil War era. The town honors them for a long married life and moral example while reflecting on local politics and land transfers in the surrounding area.
