Dr Young Takes Fifth Bride In Daviess County

Dr Charles Young of Ennora weds Mary Ketchem of Enora in Washington city ceremony conducted by Mayor Russell last week. Young, a physician at Elnora, was recently divorced in circuit court. His bride is his second spouse after eight years since the death of her first husband. Both couples have long ties to Daviess county.

Plainville Boy Enlists in Coast Artillery

Brice Killion of Plainville joined the U S Army at Vincennes recruiting station on Sept 10. He enlisted in the Coast Artillery and passed an excellent physical. He was sent to Jefferson Barracks St Louis for preliminary training before joining his unit. He is to be congratulated on choosing service with the colors.

Greene County Plans New Jail in Bloomfield vote

Greene County council appropriated 25 000 for a new county jail in Bloomfield. The old jail is unsanitary and unsafe with at least a dozen escapes in the past year. A new site near the courthouse is likely. location not yet finalized.

Runaway Team Collides With Pole on Main Street

A team owned by W. T. Alexander and hitched to a transfer wagon bolted from Fisher's meat market Friday afternoon. The horses ran up Main to Sycamore, struck a telephone pole, and broke the wagon tongue. The pair fell but sustained no injuries.

Local Corn Giant Stuns Journal Office Crowd

Big ear of corn measured 9% inches around and 11 inches long, weighing 234 pounds. The produce was grown in Greene county and shown at The Journal office on Friday. Journal ads bring results.
