School Begins With Good Attendance.

The community resumes the new term with strong turnout as the first week sees smooth progress and 167 students enrolled at the high school. Seniors are fewer in number, while the grades show various class counts and planned assignments led by Principal Phevinel Key.

Pickett Pershing and Band Concert at Public Square

The S.I. Band of this city will play a Saturday night program at the public square. An evening of tuneful music is promised with a full hours entertainment. People are urged to tell friends and visit Odon for shopping and nightlife.

Mrs Ernest Roach Dies at Home

Mrs Daisy Roach of three miles south of the city died last Monday from typhoid fever after about a week of illness. She was a daughter of Raephic Rae and Mrs Harvey Byrer, married to Ernest Roach, leaving a daughter. Funeral services were conducted at Good Hope church with Rev Rothhaver in charge, burial at Weainut Prt Cemetery.

Race Track Draws Crowd as Horses Run Fast

The new race track at the park generates strong interest as coach horses are trained weekly. Last Saturday over a dozen horses raced, drawing an excited crowd while the facility remains in good condition with more work planned to make it a premier venue.

Nancy Allen Dies in Bogard Township Near City

Mrs. Nancy Allen a long time Bogard township resident died at home last Tuesday at age 81 after a period of declining health. Born in Regard township she spent her life in the area. She was married to Thomas Allen who died about thirty years ago. Surviving children include Mrs. Alex Brock of Linton and Jos Wilk of Boserd township. Funeral services were held at Concord church with Rev Chas Wilson officiating and burial at the church cemetery.

Marriage Surprise Shocks Kin at Usney and Vincennes

Miss Vivian Howard of Us city and Malcolm Nolan of Bicknell wed in a ceremony at Usney on April 2. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs Raymond Howard, will reside in this city. Mrs Martha Rairden, 64, died suddenly at her daughter’s home in Hinton last Wednesday after nursing a typhoid patient. burial followed at Walnut Hill cemetery near Oden.
