Wreck at Switz City Tidelands Traffic Restored After Derailment

A freight wreck at Switz City on the Central line disrupted rail service last Saturday night when a tak car jumped the track causing six other cars to derail. No one was injured. Gasoline from three derailed cars leaked into gutters along the right of way. A crowd gathered at the scene and some people collected leaking fuel. Wreckage cleared by Sunday evening and traffic resumed.

First racing meet planned for September at pen half mile track

The Racing Association opens its season next Thursday September 29 at the park pen half mile track. Horses from the region will try out on the new oval as conditions improve. Three races trot pace and run are scheduled with purses for first and second. Entry fees will be charged.
