Funeral services for Private Mason were held in Newberry with eulogies from family and military colleagues. The procession moved to the church where prayers and a graveside rite concluded before the body was sent to Scotland for burial alongside fellow service members.
A freight wreck at Switz City on the Central line disrupted rail service last Saturday night when a tak car jumped the track causing six other cars to derail. No one was injured. Gasoline from three derailed cars leaked into gutters along the right of way. A crowd gathered at the scene and some people collected leaking fuel. Joel Danner a retired druggist died Sunday at his home in Elnora aged over seventy. He ran a pharmacy in Elnora for many years and was a native of Orange County. Survived by wife and children Rufus Yverre Haute Samuel Indianapolis Cera Vincennes Gertrude Terre Haute Lilie Paar. A brother Carrie Danner of this city and another Danner of Verre Haute also noted. Services held at the Blnerag Church with interment in vermeters.
A reunion at John Al Maryfield’s home two miles southwest of the city drew about 160 relatives and friends for a day of dining and visiting. Attendees included families Stickles Tayler Taylor oat Stickles twin, Maryfield relatives, Web Bair and family, Ada Bair, Clover Linn, and Frenix Bailey. John Maryfield marked his 47.6 birthday during the gathering.
The Mutual Improvement Circle held its first 1921 22 meeting at Mrs H V Merrill's home last Wednesday afternoon. Officers for the year include President Mrs J V Merrill Vice President Mrs A G Helm Treasurer Mrs J M Winklepleck Secretary Librarian Miss Zelia Ackerman and Corresponding and Press Secy Hazel Sears The next meeting will be at Mrs J W Anderson's home October 6 Miss Claucean Correll left for Danville Indiana Monday to enter school for the winter term.
Fred Dearmin, a charter member of Troop 1 in Oden, was awarded the Eagle Scout badge by the National Court of Honor. He built his path from Life to Star to Eagle, later serving as Assistant Scout Master and leading troop roles. The article urges parental support and continued investment in Scouting.
