Boosters Set for Southern State Tour and Odon Dinner

Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce plans a set acquainted trip through southern Indiana next week. A hundred boosters will ride a special train from Terre Haute to Odon for a 12 o clock dinner at Star Theater hosted by the Wesleyan class of the M E church. After dinner the party continues to Bedford with brief stops. The fifteenth annual Old Soldier's Reunion will be held September 21, 1916 at the new Pavilion, Washiston, Ind, with music by Rayhill's band and the Washington Marine File and Drum Corps.

Reverend TODD Declares Madison Townshp Home Vote Place

Rev. L. Todd states his intention to settle in Madison Township Daviess County as his permanent home and voting place after purchasing the Thomas Boyd firm. He notes his departure is temporary for ministerial duties and plans to move to Oakland City soon.

Painted homes and a 4th wedding anniversary gathering

Dr A K Lane and others had residences painted with Dutch Boy Lead and pure Linseed Oil from Odon Drugs Co. A party at Mr and Mrs Pierce McNeely celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary with about forty guests enjoying games, music, ice cream, cake, candy and fruit. Visitors include Rut Johnston of Los Angeles and Millie Gibbons of Indianapolis, with others from Chicago and Loogootee in attendance.

Will Wed Tomorrow In Bruceville Match

Ren S Boyd a well known young man of this city and Miss Pearl Henson of Bruceville will wed tomorrow afternoon at four oclock. The ceremony will be at the bride’s home by Rev S L Todd of Oakland City. The groom has been with The Journal eight years and is an Odon High School graduate. They plan to live in Odon and will be at home after Sept 23 at West Elnora Street.

Sorghum, schooling, and social notes from Burns City

Town Board Votes Levy and approves new crossings

The Town Board met at Bennett and Laughlin's office and set the annual levy. Five new street crossings were ordered along Center Main Race and Spring streets. They approved various small claims including salaries, labor, and materials. The U B church at Pleasant Hill hosted a welcome social with about seventy five attendees and a post program feast.

The Empire Restaurant opened on Wednesday with a large dinner served for the feature. Located three doors east of the Star Theater, proprietor Geo Wildman of Bedford brings long experience as a restaurant man to the new establishment.

Rainy spell and local happenings in Raglesville

Light showers fell Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Residents Wilbur C. Evans and H. E. Sims traveled to Washington on Saturday on business. Watson Day Schedule Travels Through County Stops

Watson Day in Daviess County features a Tuesday itinerary starting with Greene County on September 19. Mr. Watson will speak at Bloomfield and Odon before 9 00 AM in Odon and 10 00 AM in Elnora, then Plainville 11 00 AM, lunch in Washington, Alfordsville at 2 00 PM, Loogoeotee at 4 00 PM, return to Washington for an 8 00 PM speech at the Peoples theater. glee clubs precede the procession.

Scout Troop Sets Biweekly Meetings Plan

The troop approves meeting every two weeks on Mondays at 7:00 PM during the school period to avoid interfering with study. Winter camping is suspended. scouts should advance in second and first class work and aim for life scout by spring, with a life of service noted.

President Wilson Signs New Revenue Act Provisions

Federal collectors are told the president has signed the new revenue act abolishing the old schedule A stamp taxes effective immediately. No stamps will be required on conveyances deeds rates titles stock certificates insurance policies and similar instruments previously taxed. Schedule B duties on cosmetics perfumes and related goods are also repealed.

Young Men's Republican Club to Organize

A meeting at the Star Theater tonight aims to organize a young men's Republican club for this end of the county. The event starts at 7 o'clock with speeches planned and attendees from the county seat urged to be present.
