Daviess County avoids full registration this fall
Daviess County, one of the few counties in the state not requiring a full registration, will not hold full registration after two poll books from the last election were found. The missing books, located by former county clerk W. H. Kiefer, restore all thirty-two poll books. An amended registration law allows full registration only where poll books are incomplete. otherwise partial registrations occur. Voters who moved precincts since the last election, those who did not vote last time, and first-time voters must register.

Prof J K McCater reports opening enrollment across grades and rooms. High School total 93 with 35 freshmen 22 sophomores 18 juniors and 19 seniors. grade distributions by room noted. Industrial arts and Domestic Science enrollments show 29 boys in industrial arts and 35 girls in domestic science with plans to diversify seventh and eighth grade curricula. Paper shortages delay book orders but full supply expected next week and pupils to be equipped Monday.

Barn Struck by Lightning Burns Down and Kills Animals
A barn at Lewis Ferguson's home was destroyed by a lightning strike during a Friday storm. Three mares and two colts perished in the flames while Marion Ferguson suffered severe burns trying to save the animals. He received medical care in town and is recovering at home. insurance partly covered the loss.

Crane Overton wedding at Indiana Normal
Miss Della Overton married Prof. R E Crane of Terre Haute in a high noon ceremony officiated by Rev Huddleson. The couple, both IS Normal students, will reside in Warren Indiana after September 15 where Crane leads the Mathematics and Science department at the high school.

Birthday Surprise for Miss Lydia Cox on 66th Birthday
Miss Lydia Cox, who is totally blind, celebrated her 66th birthday with friends and neighbors at her brother I M Cox home. A noon feast, games, and music filled the day, and gifts were warmly received as attendees dispersed late in the afternoon. Cox reads from a raised-letter Bible by touch and can thread a needle using tongue and fingers.

Barn Fire Destroys John A Sawyer's Property
A large barn about a mile southwest of Plainville burned last Friday evening destroying twelve horses, thirty tons of hay, vehicles and harness. Loss estimated at 1800 dollars with 800 dollars insured. Origin of the fire unknown while the family was at supper.
