A Terre Haute crowd greeted about 200 visitors from the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce as they arrived by train from the Southeastern trip. Rev Ernest Roberts of Ist U B Church delivered a welcoming address and a carved wooden key symbolized the city's hospitality before the group toured local business districts and prepared for further travel to Bedford and nearby towns.

Fire destroys Webster Lumber Company mill
Hall Carrs sawmill of Webster Lumber Co. burned Sunday about 2 50 pm. Mark Roberts, employed at the mill, saw smoke and investigated as several boys ran from the building. Firemen arrived too late to save the mill. loss estimated at 3500 with no insurance. Mrs Reid of Orleans returns home after typhoid fever illness with sister Mrs Keck improving.

Howe Burns House Near Howe Described as Total Loss
A fire Saturday afternoon destroyed the residence of William Andis about five miles southwest of the city. The house and its contents were a total loss with no one inside as neighbors reported the flames gaining headway quickly. The fire is believed caused by a defective flue after the heating stove was installed that morning. no insurance coverage was in place.

Fire destroys barn on Wallick farm near city
A large barn owned by farmer O. M. Wallick three miles east of the city was burned last Saturday night. Hay feed and some farm machinery were destroyed. The new barn appeared to have been recently built and the cause of the fire is unknown as the area was unoccupied during the day.
