A crashed aeroplane plowed through the Washington Labor Day crowd injuring seventeen. Among the injured Ralph Singleton and Vincent Jones suffered crushed skulls needing urgent operations. ten year old Singleton and 66 year old Jones were hospitalized with critical and serious injuries.

Barn Destroyed by Lightning Near Milton Allen Farm
A lightning strike last Tuesday evening destroyed the large barn of Milton Allen, about 40 miles south of the city. The barn contained hay and a straw stack nearby burned. stock and harness were saved. Insurance covered barn contents for $100 and the barn for $600.

Susie Humerickhouse Dies of Typhoid at 37
Susie Chestnut Humerickhouse of Marco died Tuesday after a month long typhoid illness. She aged 37, married Daniel Humerickhouse on July 1, 1915, and lived in Van Buren township near Marco. She was a Church of God member, survived by husband, siblings, and was buried in Marco cemetery after services led by Rev. Watkins.

Scotland Has Fire Destroys Blacksmith Shop and Workshop
The blacksmith shop of Stewart Asdell in Scotland and another adjacent workshop were destroyed by fire Monday night around eleven. The blaze, likely started by a spark in nearby trash, consumed the buildings before discovery, with no contents saved. The fire department kept it from spreading to nearby structures. Asdell's loss is about $600 with no insurance.
