The eighty seventh annual Indiana United Brethren Conference in New Albany closes with Rev W E Snyder announcing the council of administration and pastor assignments for churches across the conference district. Mrs Chiles Righteous Christian Life Ends in Odon

Mrs Barbara Chiles aged 77 died last Wednesday at her home in south Odon from asthma and heart trouble after years of ill health. Born in Daviess County in 1838 she married Thomas Chiles and had four children Omar of Indianapolis Mrs L L Love Mrs Laura Pilkington of Odon and Mrs John Querye of Mound Valley Kansas. Surviving siblings and grandchildren number seven and eight respectively with her husband deceased seven years. Funeral at home today at 10 with W R Thom officiating burial Walnut Hill.

Band Prepared for Indianapolis Trip to War Demonstration

The city band heads to Indianapolis for the War in Indiana event on Monday. They depart Sunday on the early train, ride special coaches on the I and W, and camp with soldiers Sunday night. A concert follows Sunday afternoon and a military demonstration Monday afternoon.

The Linton Nationals with H. Davis pitched were routed 12 to 2 at Southside park Sunday. Davis allowed 15 hits as Sims held the Linton bats to 4. D. Sears and Whitsman each collected 3 hits for Odon in four trips.

Dr Young Injured in Linton Train Accident

Dr C. C. Young, a prominent Elnora physician, was seriously hurt near Linton station when a Southeastern train struck him. He suffered a right leg fracture and internal injuries, was hospitalized in Linton, then returned home to Elnora where he is progressing as expected.

The Old Settlers Association held a meeting at Poindexter and Wilson's store last Monday night to complete the organization's business and elect officers for the coming year. President W. J. Danner. Malone Acquitted After Concealed Weapons Trial

A crowd attended the Dove Malone trial at Squire Guthrie's office. Impaneling a jury caused a delay but the case opened about 1 30. Several witnesses testified and the jury quickly found Malone not guilty on the concealed weapons charge after a single ballot.

Birthday Surprise for Mrs Ledgerwood at Odon

Mrs M B Ledgerwood was celebrated by brothers and sisters and families at her Odon home for her forty eighth birthday. Guests from Newberry Newberry Linton Washington and Odon shared stories and a plentiful dinner. Presents were many and appreciated by the honored hostess.

Odon Public Schools Open for New Year

The Odon public schools will open Monday September 13. Parents with first time entrants should ensure their children are old enough. Mrs. Austin Howard Dies of Tuberculosis at 65

Mrs. Austin Howard of two miles east of the city died this morning at 4 due to tuberculosis. She was sixty five and recently moved to the area from Indiana polis with her husband. Survived by husband and daughter Frances. Funeral arrangements not yet completed.

Union Baptist Association Holds Annual Meeting Across Counties

The 22 church association met at the Baptist church in Bicknell this week with Rev. J. Cohn of Petersburg delivering the introductory sermon. Officers elected included Moderator Rev Clive McGuire, Clerk Hamlet Allen, and Treasurer W H Cornett. Delegates reported growth with Vincennes building a new church, Petersburg doubling Sunday school, Dugger reporting a spring revival with 100 new members, and Washington hosting a large summer revival. Over 200 delegates attended including Rev T J Owens and Rev Dr Agar of New York City.
