Nettie Sears Edwards, born 1866, widow of William Boyd and later John Edwards, died at her Est Od home after a long illness from organic heart trouble. Survived by two sons Jasper and Victor, with funeral at 9:30 this morning led by Rev. Chas Coleman, burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Democrats plan a Saturday night rally at Star Theater to close the county campaign. All candidates will attend with music by the Scottish Kitties of Bicknell and the Southern Indians band of Odon.
Dr. I. E. Bowman announces plans to build a brick office on the site of his current South Spring Street office. Workmen are removing the old building and construction will start immediately. Bowman has moved equipment to the rear room of the First National Bank during the project.
Christian Endeavor program features lessons on manliness and womanliness. Speakers include Harve Chinn Sylvia O Donald and Rev Roberts as leader. Special guest William Bair. Discussion covers true womanliness charges with Ruth Breden and civic freedom. Duet by Mr and Mrs C A Breden. Paragraphs by members led by Agnes Wilson.
About thirty or forty people visited Rev. and Mrs. J. T. Hobson on Monday presenting a total gift of 30.50 in cash and provisions. Marion Johnson led prayer, Rev. E. Roberts spoke, and Mr. and Mrs. Hobson expressed thanks. Rev. Trowbridge and wife attended the event.
Mrs. Jas Chestnut celebrated her fifty fifth birthday with about eighty friends at Mt. Olive after Sunday school. The surprise party featured long tables of food and a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with guests departing late in the day.

Mrs Ida Williams Robertson died at her Burns City home last Sunday after an operation for a tumor at Bedford two weeks earlier. Born 1873 she was 48. She married Wm C Robertson in 1915 and leaves a husband, parents, two brothers and other relatives. Funeral services were at the Christian Church Burns City with Rev C H Buchannan officiating. Burial followed in the Burns City cemetery.
The National Association of Rexall Druggists with over 8,000 members conducts a straw poll of more than 2.5 million people across all states and territories. Odon Drug Co of this city participates, reports flow from members, and final results will be tabulated in Boston before Election Day for simultaneous publication.
The statute states that any person who sells or gives cigarettes or cigarette papers to any boy under twenty one is liable to a fine of not less than $25 for the first offense. This is from Vol 1 Page 2480 Section 2481 of the 1914 revision.
Claude M. Killion wed Violet Alice Garner and C Verlink married Naomi Nelson in a double ceremony at Rev. C. H. Buchanan's home last Saturday night. Killion, son of Wmn Killion, wed Gainer's daughter from Steele township. Verlink, son of John W. Rink, wed Naomi Nelson, daughter of Albert M. Nelson of Plainville. The couples will live on Steele county farms.
The Thimble Club ladies hosted their husbands on Friday evening October 20 1916 at the Barkley home celebrating their eleventh anniversary. Decorations featured flags and presidential images with a Suffragette presence. Attendees included numerous local couples led by Levi Matthews of Portland Oregon and many others.
Mr. and Mrs. Olan Porter of Farlen visited Mrs. Porters parents Mr. and Mrs. John Clark. John Gadberry of Washington and Wm. Gadberry and Virgil Paige with others spent Sunday with relatives. Ovid Smiley and family visited J. B. Shields. The Valley View Drive grade work will finish this week and gravel will be laid in days.

The notice states cider is produced on Thursdays each week with a minimum charge of 50 cents. Pricing is 2 cents per gallon for cider production and 2 cents per gallon for boiling cider into syrup, applicable to quantities of 25 gallons or more.
Bobt Seeds of Birmingham Pennsylvania will open the Timme Sisters Quartette program at the U B church on Thursday November 6. He tells three lectures How God made the Soil Fertile Influence of the Home and Mistakes of Life exposed. The four part course includes acts by Reno B Wilbourne and the Swanee River Quartette. Tickets are at Kecks Jewelry Store and the course is backed by the Odon Chamber of Commerce for community uplift.
O. C. Correll installs a thirty gallon galvanized tank and coil system in his West Main Street barber shop. Water heats via coils in a stove improving over the old gasoline heated reservoir and allows more water at lower cost. H. V. Merrill of the city installed the system.
The program dated Sunday October 29 1916 lists events at 7 p.m. including processional by Young Women prayer scripture song by a male quartet dialogue solos by Pearl Seneff Nelle Breden reading by Zella Ackerman offering church wide campaign presid Benediction and doxology.
The Odon Troop No. 1 notes its busy happy members and praises drills in arms and first aid led by Drill Master Mr. Bunch. Leaders invite all to attend Monday meetings at the troop headquarters and urge support for the Boy Scout movement.

Hayden Osborn of Blankenship came for business. Mrs. Cora Spurgeon and others attended Mrs. Robinson's funeral. T Summerville and Georgia Cochran from Colorado visit relatives. Elias Malone of Elnora and Dr. Jennings of Bloomfield stop by. Miss Stella Lamb ill with typhoid. Jasper Williams and Mrs. Marshall visit Bedford hospital. both patients improving at home.
The baby contest held at the Star theater last Saturday night awarded 1st prize a diamond ring to Jack Cooper Brady. Eleanor Gantz took 2nd prize a silver set, and Martha Alice Bunch earned 3rd prize a band ring.
