A large crowd attended the Odon band concert despite a chilly morning. The parade and program ran smoothly with 1600 paid admissions and a hearty welcome from Rev. A C Trusty. The Bedford and Williams area guests rode through on the night train, and plans for future band events were discussed in Worthington in November.

BeD TOWN BOARD Blackburn Ferguson Die in Greene County
An elderly Greene county resident, Blackburn Ferguson, was found dead in bed at Dan Skemp’s Lyons home Friday morning. Longtime local violinist and folk dancer, he would have turned eighty next May. Survived by one brother Elijah Ferguson of Vincennes, he was married to Amy Pownall who died forty years ago. Funeral held at the Skump home with burial in Chandler cemetery.

Town board meets in regular session to appoint election officials
The town board met at the First National bank office to review month’s business. W. Cummings, C. O'Dell, Clem Aishe, Myers Light & Power Co., Correll & Burrell and Wm Summerville were paid. Guthrie resigned from the board effective Dec 15. M I C representatives discussed a public building at City Park. Election commissioners Guthrie Henderson and Boyd were appointed for the upcoming town election on Nov 2 at Royal Theatre. Two board members plus clerk and treasurer will be elected.

Chaplin Contest At Royal Draws Movie Fans

Linton Eagles Fall To White Sox In Late Start Game
The Linton Eagles lost 22 to 11 to the White Sox in a hit and run game. Woodville pitched for Linton with Sims on the mound for the locals. Numerous errors plagued both sides and Cooper hit two home runs. The game ran late after a late start following a band concert.

Wagon overturned while hauling coal injures none
Wm. Bennett, a local teamster, overturned his coal wagon when wheels slipped into a rut on Tuesday. The wagon was badly damaged but Mr. Bennett and his horses were not injured.

Fire Hero Sheldon Lacy Sacrifices Life at South Chicago Plant
Sheldon Lacy a 21 year old furnace blower at Illinois Steel Company in South Chicago died saving 25 coworkers from a deadly gas leak in the washer room. He held a valve against an escaping gas stream until others escaped then collapsed. Peter Moncilochi, 47, attempted the rescue and also died. Four coworkers were injured but surviving. Investigators seek cause of valve failure at the plant. Lacy lived at 8927 Burley Avenue, Moncilochi at 8905 The Strand.
