Great White Band to headline in Odon next Sunday parade

The final concert of the Great White Band in Odon draws nationwide attention with an expected large crowd. Nine varied numbers open with Hoosier Club and conclude with The Star Spangled Banner. a 206 member band will parade from 1:00 pm after dinner at the K of P building.

Station Robbery at Southeastern Depot

Thieves entered the Southeastern Depot Saturday night and forced the safe. About $20 in silver was taken while $3 to $4 in the money drawer remained. The inner door was broken, outer door unlocked, likely entry via a window. No glue was taken from shelves.

Williams Dyer Wedding at United Brethren Parsonage

Ira S. Williams and Miss Nelli A. Dyer, prominent local youths, married at the United Brethren parsonage in Plainville at 4 30 p m on Thursday September 30. Rev Perry Lee officiated. The bride is Richard Dyer's daughter and the groom is John Williams's son from near Odon. They were accompanied by Luther Boyd and Mrs Cora H Montgomery.

Family Reunion Near Odon Binds Richardson Kin

The Richardson family held a reunion Sunday at Robert Richardson’s east of Odon. About forty five descendants attended a big dinner then enjoyed music games and conversation. Among the visitors were Mr and Mrs Ed Richardson and son John from Dayton Ohio who were en route home from Oklahoma and stayed for a short visit before returning to Ohio.

At the Indiana WCTU forty second state convention held in Muncie last week Odon received the pennant for the most successful institute. The event drew 668 accredited delegates plus visitors, with all old officers re elected for the ensuing year.

Mrs J B Williams hosted a chicken fry at the city park Tuesday night for the Y M C A group. A bonfire burned as attendees, including Mrs Hubert Taylor and Mrs Mel Cooper, joined the gathering around the lantern light and enjoyed the evening.

The Odon High School ball team defeated Elnora High School 5 to 4 on Saturday in an exciting game. Odon will travel to Plainville next Saturday to face the Plainville High School team in what promises to be a strong contest.

The Biggest of All Rexall Stores Production Totals

Last year Rexall stores produced and sold large quantities across many items including 118,250,000 compressed tablets 100,050 pints of perfumes 300,000 pounds of powders and creams and 75,000,000 envelopes. A Rexall Store at Odon supplied a considerable portion.

Locals Defeated by Loogootee Glassworkers Pitchers

The Loogootee Glassworkers defeated local players in a two and a half hour rag chewing game. Williams of Burns City pitched for the Glassworkers, Sims faced 12 hits from Martin County, and Homer Cunningham umpired with even breaks as crowd labels the contest dull yet decisive.
