Tragic mistaken burglary ends in deadly shooting
Jacob Bender, 55, of Washington was shot by neighbor Richard Cleaver who mistook him for a burglar. Bender entered Cleaver’s home intoxicated, Cleaver fired a shotgun, fatally wounding him. A partly drained whiskey bottle was found on Bender, suggesting intoxication contributed to the tragedy.
