Fox Hunters Week Brings Visitors to Southern Indiana

Campers fox hunters and dog fanciers descend on the city for a week of sport. Ming and Hughes Tie the Knot in Williams Jurisdiction

Eighty-one year old Samuel Ming and fifty-one year old Enza Hughes married by Justice A. M. Williams last Sunday at the Williams burme south of town. Ming, a Bogard township farmer on an eighty acre tract, and the bride from Soverd township began a second marriage for both with a 90 day joke about the delay. The ceremony followed a dinner with guests and music, while other Cooper family members held an annual reunion at Spencer state park nearby. The community library has been redecorated and upgraded with new book racks to expand its collection.

School News Reports A Tough Year Ahead For Students

The first month grades show no clear top performers as instructors warn the year will be hard. Student officers are elected across grades with seniors juniors and freshmen named to key posts. Moore Shaffer Couple Married at Pleasant Hill Parsonage

Miss Nettle Shaffer and Calvin Moore were married last Thursday at the Pleasant Hill United Brothers parsonage with Rev. J. W. McMurtry officiating. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs Win Shaffer, lives near Oolon, and the groom, a farmer, resides near Elnora. They will live on a farm east of Elnora. RF Myers is remodeling his store with new enclosures. The Narcissus club met at Mrs AC Helm in Washington with refreshments served.

Two Accidents Darken Evening on Odin Eaglesville Road

W R Laughlin and family were shaken when their car overturned on the Odin Eaglesville road. Mrs Laughlin suffered a deep arm and facial cut and was treated in town. In a separate collision at Spring street crossing the Sears car was struck by a backing freight train, causing damage but no injuries.

Burglars Take Eight Pairs of Shoes From Store Window

Eight pairs of high grade shoes were stolen from the display window of the Odon Clothing Company's shop last Monday night. The thieves gained entry by removing a cracked corner of a plate glass window using a wire or stick to retrieve the shoes. The crime occurred in a well lighted district near the First National Bank. No clues were found.

Dogs Kill Sheep in Ferguson Flock Incident

Dogs attacked Ed Ferguson’s sheep near the city striking Tuesday morning. Several fine breeding ewes were killed or maimed and had to be killed. Ferguson found the dogs and killed both. This is his second such loss this season, following earlier sheep deaths.
