Two Miners Die In Slate Fall At Stuckey Mine
A fall of almost a ton of slate crushed J. B. Flinn and Oliver Herndon at the Stuckey mine in Van Buren township. The shaft is sixty five feet deep and the men were about seventy five feet back. Coroner Lett investigated and both men left behind widows and several children. Flinn, sixty three? no, fifty three, long known as township assessor, funeral held at Eaglesville. Herndon, forty six, funeral held at Eaglesville cemetery.

P A Winklepleck reported a gold watch lost Saturday near Bedford while walking from the Monon to the Southeastern station. Ernest Whittenback of the Bedford plumbing force found the time piece at the railroad crossing where it slipped from the pocket and returned it.

Mrs. Margaret Weimer, aged 81, died at her East Odon home last Monday due to age and debility. Born in Ohio on September 28, 1834, she lived in this county 28 years and in the city since. Survived by two children from her first marriage to George Bell and three from her second to John J. Weimer, with one sister in Ohio. Funeral Wednesday at 10 a.m. at home with Rev. Ernest Roberts. burial at Walnut Hill. she was a United Brethren member.

Claud Deal and Miss Callie Metheny united in marriage last Wednesday evening at 6 00 at the bride’s home in Bogard township. Rev Perry Key officiated amid relatives and friends. A sumptuous wedding supper followed. The bride, daughter of Mrs Sarah Metheny formerly of this city, taught domestic science and music in Epsom schools. The groom, son of Frank Deal, farms near the city and has worked with H V Merrill. They will reside on a Bogard township farm.

Residence Burns in South City Fire Destroys Home
The Wes Brown residence about six miles south of the city burned Monday afternoon around 4 30. Origin not definite but suspected to have started from a defective kitchen flue. The fire gained headway before discovery and nothing was saved. Loss covered by insurance.

High School Hotel Basketball Postponed by Rain
A rain cancelation moved a planned game in the K P hall to later. Sophomores and Seniors led the first half 11 to 1, while Juniors and Freshmen surged to 21 to 16 in the final period. The first lecture course number was presented at Mt. church last night by the Guilotto Trio and drew a good crowd. Vincenzo Guilotto, a violinist of rare ability, gave masterful interpretations of great masters. Mrs Rath Gregg Gullette accompanied on piano. Miss Fern Goltr also performed. the program was widely enjoyed. The next lecture is scheduled for December 10.

Thanksgiving Day Meeting at Log Church
An all day Thanksgiving meeting was held at the Log Church four miles east of town with a large crowd in attendance. Rev Cisco of the Scotland U B church gave the Thanksgiving address. A noon dinner was served on long tables near the church. The building, unused for years, was cleaned and prepared for the event. The Log church is a community landmark, with only one other in the state.

Pasteur treatment linked to rabies scare in Hubbard case
Nettie Hubbard, daughter of Jane Hubbard of Landcotes, will undergo Pasteur treatment to prevent hydrophobia after her dog bit a neighbor and caused a rabies scare. The Hubbard dog’s head was sent to Indianapolis for testing, confirming rabies. Several neighborhood dogs were quarantined or killed. one owner killed a dog.
