Death of Scott Arford after timber accident in 1914
Scott Arford a prominent resident of this city died at his residence on East Main street Wednesday morning. He suffered injuries from a Timber accident in July 1914 when crushed under a falling tree while cutting timber for J. A. Taylor Co. in a heavy windstorm. He was treated at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, returned home last January, and had been bedbound since. He leaves a wife Amanda Solomon and four children Cameron Pine Bluff Ark Claude Fern and Grace Blackburn Indianapolis, plus siblings and six grandchildren. Funeral held at the Christian church with Rev. Trusty officiating. burial Walnut Hill, K P lodge assisted.

Light Plant Engineer Dies in Washington City Blast
John Weiland forty a single man and third engineer at the Washington municipal light plant was killed when the main engine cylinder head blew out. The accident occurred after the 8 pm shift while Weiland was alone in the engine room. Fireman John Babrick saw him approach the cylinder head just before a blasting report and escaping steam followed by plant machinery stopping. Weiland’s head struck by a heavy cylinder head and wedged by the fly wheel ended instantly. The blast crippled the plant plunging the city into darkness delaying public shows and gatherings until repairs, likely five days, restore street lights.

Frank Aigler seven year old son of Mr and Mrs John F Zigler died last Sunday from a cancerous growth. A post mortem was held Monday by local physicians. He is survived by his parents and three sisters. Funeral services were held at Raglesville Tuesday with Rev Ernest Roberts officiating. Burial followed at Raglesville Cemetery.
