Attempt to Kill Cosby Threatens Local Farmer
Two unknown men fired on Grandison Cosby a farmer south of the city on Portersville road between 1 and 2 AM Friday. Cosby escaped injury by a few inches as he stepped from his dining room to a passage near the summer kitchen. One assailant rode a buggy, the other on horseback or at the back of the buggy, then fled south and toward the city. Cosby notified police and believes the attack stems from threats made after the last grand jury session. he has received letters without identifying authors. Cosby previously served as a bailiff.

Edward Duncan shot Tillman Taylor and his wife Luks Taylor at their Linton home after a recent divorce and remarriage.
