Odon Couple United In Marriage At Home Ceremony

A local couple tied the knot at six oclock in an at home wedding at Henderson on South Spring Feely. Attended by relatives and friends, the bride daughter of Starlin Gruff and groom son of Albert Miller plan to reside near Odon after the ceremony officiated by Rev. T A Garriott. Ice rain and cake followed the service with about 50 present.

Train Hits Cow Injuring Animal in Pasture Incident

A train struck a cow in a pasture last Monday near the slaughter gate area. The animal, owned by Cyrus Ketchem, was killed or seriously injured, with reports of the train not slowing in time. Local authorities investigate the mishap and potential liability.

Juries Drawn for Daviess Circuit Court Term

The November term of the Daviess circuit court convened at the county courthouse November 17. Judge J W Ogden presided as juries were drawn by George Godwin and E F Forsythe with W H Kiefer clerk. The grand jury includes Meade Harned Shaver Bradley Fisher Bennett. the petit jury lists Sears Winklepleck Allison Horton Erwin Fairhurst Hatfield Clark Ellis Brewer Greenwell Myers. The criminal docket is heavy with eighteen additional indictments plus many civil cases carried over.

Dr D V Wolfe Arrested On Bunco Charge In Kentucky

Dr D V Wolfe a Washington veterinary surgeon and stock dealer was arrested by the Knox county sheriff on an affidavit charging bunco steering and obtaining money under false pretense. He allegedly defrauded farmer William Tindall of 2000 by promising green goods in a scheme tied to a 25000 payout. Tindall and attorney Samuel Emison confronted Wolfe at the Hyatt hotel room where he denied knowledge of the loan. A tide bill with four counts was filed. Wolfe and associates have prior county grand jury indictments tied to a barn fire on the Van Allen farm.

New Bank Stock Holders Meet Organize Farmers Bank of Odon

The stockholders of the new Farmers Bank of Odon met at Bennett's real estate offices last Wednesday forming a board of directors by acclamation. Directors named were J. H. Garten J. A. McCoy Wm Neeremer Reason Bennett and Lowry Cooper with Garten as president Cooper as vice president and McCoy as cashier. Seventeen stockholders were present and building preparations proceed with readiness for business once fixtures and a safe arrive.

Wolfe Returns to Washington After Knox County Arrest

Mrs Pauline Stewart Boyd aged forty eight wife of Albert G Boyd died at home north of the city after a battle with cancer. She leaves Edna Rose Stella Waldron and Holman with her husband three siblings and one brother and sister. Services were held at Good Hope Church with Rev F A Lester and burial at Walnut Gill. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.

Curtis Roscoe Flinn and Misa Tennis Dorothy Bolding, prominent local youths, married Saturday night in Elnora. Flinn, a young farmer and teamster, lived with Herbert Ketchem, with parents once near Odon and later in Arkansas. B F Wheeler of Vincennes purchased a fine pearl recently discovered in Eel river by Don Drake of Worthington. The price was about 125 dollars and the pearl is the best found this season. Wheeler, a regular mussel digger camp visitor, has bought several good pearls this season.

Pershing Dislocates Shoulder After Rainy Fall

C. E. Pershing suffered a painful injury last Friday when he slipped on porch steps while hurrying from the train. He dislocated his left shoulder and bruised his body. Dr. DeMotte attended him and reports he is progressing and able to be out.
