A local couple tied the knot at six oclock in an at home wedding at Henderson on South Spring Feely. Attended by relatives and friends, the bride daughter of Starlin Gruff and groom son of Albert Miller plan to reside near Odon after the ceremony officiated by Rev. T A Garriott. Ice rain and cake followed the service with about 50 present.
A train struck a cow in a pasture last Monday near the slaughter gate area. The animal, owned by Cyrus Ketchem, was killed or seriously injured, with reports of the train not slowing in time. Local authorities investigate the mishap and potential liability.
A new Southeastern timetable shifts most trains. No 6 now leaves at 7 05 instead of 6 20, No 2 arrives at 9 06 rather than 9 18, No 4 at 5 30 instead of 6 45, No 3 at 3 15 instead of 3 08, and No 9 at 8 00 instead of 6 45. No 1 keeps 7 58. Dr D V Wolfe a Washington veterinary surgeon and stock dealer was arrested by the Knox county sheriff on an affidavit charging bunco steering and obtaining money under false pretense. He allegedly defrauded farmer William Tindall of 2000 by promising green goods in a scheme tied to a 25000 payout. Tindall and attorney Samuel Emison confronted Wolfe at the Hyatt hotel room where he denied knowledge of the loan. A tide bill with four counts was filed. Wolfe and associates have prior county grand jury indictments tied to a barn fire on the Van Allen farm.
The poultry meeting was held at the Journal office last Monday night. Reports from committees and details of the upcoming show were discussed.
Henry A McKean a respected farmer died at home near Scotland last Sunday from apoplexy after a yearlong decline. Survived by wife Elizabeth and ten children eight living Sam Ed Ernest Frank in Oregon Jane Smith Pleasantville Josie Cade Sanborn Nettie Lind near Sanborn Ethel McKean at home Funeral held Tuesday at Scotland Presbyterian Church Rev Carmichael presiding burial in Scotland cemetery.
The stockholders of the new Farmers Bank of Odon met at Bennett's real estate offices last Wednesday forming a board of directors by acclamation. Directors named were J. H. Garten J. A. McCoy Wm Neeremer Reason Bennett and Lowry Cooper with Garten as president Cooper as vice president and McCoy as cashier. Seventeen stockholders were present and building preparations proceed with readiness for business once fixtures and a safe arrive.
Dr. D. W. Wolfe was arrested Thursday in Knox county and returned to Washington. He posted a $1,000 bond Friday through Equitable Surety Co. of St. Louis and was released. Wolfe portrayed the case as a dispute fueled by a wealthy insurer and local animosity, claiming denial of attorney consultation and bond options at arrest.

She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
Curtis Roscoe Flinn and Misa Tennis Dorothy Bolding, prominent local youths, married Saturday night in Elnora. Flinn, a young farmer and teamster, lived with Herbert Ketchem, with parents once near Odon and later in Arkansas. Bolding, daughter of Mrs. Kidora Bolding, moved from East Odon to a Baile church area farm three years ago and was active in church work. They will reside near Baile.

B F Wheeler of Vincennes purchased a fine pearl recently discovered in Eel river by Don Drake of Worthington. The price was about 125 dollars and the pearl is the best found this season. Wheeler, a regular mussel digger camp visitor, has bought several good pearls this season.
C. E. Pershing suffered a painful injury last Friday when he slipped on porch steps while hurrying from the train. He dislocated his left shoulder and bruised his body. Dr. DeMotte attended him and reports he is progressing and able to be out.
