Thomas Wadsworth Rites Held for Indiana Benefactor

Thomas Wadsworth died Saturday at his home near Eaglesville after a long illness. Born June 30 1828 in Lawrence County he was a pioneer minister and Civil War veteran who later favored the Populist Party. Funeral services were conducted at Eaglesville Methodist Church with Rev Morgan delivering the sermon.

Dropped Dead Near Elnora Minister Rev W F Watson

Rev W F Watson a well known resident of Newberry and Odon area died of heart disease Friday while en route to Elnora to catch a train. Born August 24, 1851 he leaves wife Mary Stewart and five children three sons Charles C John R and Wm A. Watson. Burial at Baker cemetery after funeral at Mud Pike church conducted by Rev G P Crawford.

Runaways On Friday the 13th Alarm Local Residents

Amish farmer John Ritchley and Elmer Sears reported runaway incidents on Friday. Ritchley’s team frightened on Hast Race Street caused a collision with a coal wagon and a telephone pole, injuring him slightly and wrecking his buggy. Sears’ wagon shafts broke, frightening a horse that ran until Sears restrained it about a mile north of town.

Two New Circuits Proposed by Sullivan County Bar

At a Sullivan County Bar Association meeting members agreed to present a bill to the next state legislature. The proposal would divide the Sullivan Greene judicial circuit into two separate circuits with a court in each county seat due to rising judicial business and slow pace of court work.
