Big Victory Celebration Draws Massive Local Parade
A huge crowd gathered Monday as a grand victory celebration filled Plainville and nearby towns. Delegations from Plainville and Elnora joined in a long parade to Washington, with the Od on and Washington bands, floats, and the old Walnut Hill cannon. A courthouse program followed the procession and citywide festivities continued at night with music, speeches by Rev. Edwin Shake and Chas. Sims, and a singing of Keep the Home Fires Burning led by Bonnie Sommers.

Mrs. Delphia Thacker Richardson, a longtime East Odon resident and Baptist, died Thursday November 7 at her home from age related illness. Born January 22, 1841 in Virginia she had three marriages producing nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held at her residence and burial followed at Walnut Hill.

Dorothy Elanor Overton, two years old, daughter of Mr and Mrs Homer Overton of West Odon, died last Wednesday of spasmodic croup after a sudden illness. Funeral arrangements had not been announced at press time.
