Election returns show Wilson victory in pivotal California

The national election produced a narrow Wilson victory with California’s thirteen electoral votes deciding the outcome. Early eastern results favored Hughes but late western returns swung the race. Correction of marriage notice for Roberts and Winklepleck

Rexall Straw Vote Proves Correct

The Rexall Druggists Association ran the largest nationwide straw poll tracking 951,396 voters across the United States. Final results dated November 6 showed Wilson with 554,500 popular votes to Hughes 396,896, confirming the early lead from October reports.

Republicans Win County Offices in Local Election

Republicans captured most county offices while Democrats won judicial posts. Judge J. W. Ogden and Prosecutor Arthur Greenwood were elected, with Greenwood defeating Thomas D. Slimp. Sheriff C. D. Guthrie won by 240 votes, and Osmen and Wallick won commissioner seats by narrow margins.

Bland defeats Cullop in Indiana second district race

Oscar Bland of Linton, Republican candidate for congress, defeats William A. Cullop of Vincennes, Democrat, by about 991 votes after a bitter campaign. Cullop had held a safe majority until a split in the Democratic ranks changed the outcome.

Mr Hewitt Stricken With Severe Stroke

Wm Hewitt engineer at the Myers Light and Power Plant suffered a severe apoplectic stroke last Monday and is in a serious condition at his home in this city. Dr DeMotte was called and gave him medical attention. He is resting fairly well at present but still in a critical condition.

Goodrich Wins Indiana Governorship In 1924 Exit Poll

Indiana returns show James P. Goodrich leading by about 12 829 votes with a statewide Republican slate secured. Hughes carries the state for president by roughly 7 500, while Watson defeats Taggart for the U S Senate. Republicans gain congressional seats and project seven to eleven total wins.

Obedi Collins Found Dead at Daviess Infirmary

Coroner Huette Poindexter investigated the death of Obedi Collins at the Daviess county infirmary. The 58 year old inmate was found lifeless in his farm housing on Wednesday morning with no signs of violence. Burial occurred in the farm cemetery.
