Leason Wallick Dies at 20 After Illness

Leason Wallick, well known in the community, died at his home east of town last Monday from catarrhal pneumonia after a week of illness. Born October 31, 1903, he was a graduate of Odon High School class of 1923, a Mt. Olive Baptist Church member, and active in Sunday School. The funeral from Mt. Olive Church was held Wednesday at 10 a.m. Rev. J. L. Sherrell officiated, with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery. He is survived by his father and one sister Neva, plus distant relatives and friends.

Thankful tribute to husband and father after burial

Miss Grace Carpenter Weds Walter Ketcham in U B Church

Grace Carpenter daughter of William Carpenter East Odon married Walter Ketcham son of Cyrus Ketcham near town last Saturday at five o'clock Rev N Fouts officiated at the U B parsonage. The couple plan to reside in the community and were noted as well known in local circles.

Dyal’s Death Result of Accident Near Harrah

James E. Dyal, 32, of Seattle and district manager for an insurance company, died from a gunshot wound when a shotgun discharged as he leaned against its muzzle while loading watermelons in his car near Harrah, Washington. He had been visiting from Seattle, where he lived four years. His family, including Mrs. A. W. Dyal and son Luther, traveled to Seattle after word of the death.

Will of Thomas Wirt Filed in County Clerk’s Office

The will of Thomas Wirt who died last week was filed Tuesday with the county clerk J. E. Pershing. It values the estate at about $5,000 and names Davie Smith as executrix with the estate to be shared equally with grand nephew Thomas Warriner of Terre Haute. The document requests embalming and a private burial in Walnut Hill cemetery with no funeral service, and burial to be officiated by the Masonic lodge of Odon.

Winegar wed October 28 in Carlisle with Rev W L Alexander officiating. Winegar works in his father Logan J Winegar's drug store. Mrs Elfa Crooke visits from Seattle before returning home. The Christian Endeavor Play All A Mistake drew a large crowd and the vaudeville was praised. The O H S basketball team lost 30 to 13 to Loogootee, outweighed two to one, with Odon missing many scoring opportunities. First half 14-7 Loogootee, second half 16-5 Loogootee. Raglesville spanks Odon 24-2 in preliminary, then Pleasantville edges Odon 15-14 after a rough start and fouls.
